Abstract
The poxvirus family is a diverse and interesting group of viruses that affe ct both humans and animals. Poxviruses are epitheliotropic and therefore ar e of interest to the dermatologist. The genera of poxviruses known to affec t humans are Orthopoxvirus, Parapoxvirus, Molluscipoxvirus. and Yatapoxviru s. The different poxviruses are reviewed, including their history; incidenc e, clinical presentation, and treatment.
