Polycrystalline mixed Li-Cd ferrites sintered at 1250 degreesC and 1300 deg
reesC were prepared by the well-known double-sintering ceramic technique. T
he bull; densities of the specimens are determined by the hydrostatic metho
d. The ultrasonic compressional (V-l) and shear (V-s) velocities of the mix
ed Li-Cd ferrites sintered at 1250 degreesC and 1300 degreesC temperatures
were measured at room temperature by ultrasonic-pulse transmission techniqu
e. The values of Young's modulus, the rigidity modulus, Debye temperature a
nd average sound velocities are calculated from the experimental values of
V-1 and V-s. The variation of the elastic moduli with the sintering tempera
ture is interpreted in terms of the binding forces between the atoms. (C) 2
