The presence or absence of germ pores or germ slits in ascospore, of varia
tions in ascus apical anatomy, and of presence or absence of periphyses in
the ostiole, in combination permit separation into three families: Phaeotri
chaceae, Sporormiaceae, and the newly described Delitschiaceae.
