Abstract
The equilibrium charge-state distributions have been measured for sodium io ns at the exit of a carbon foil for energies ranging from 0.43 to 1.66 MeV. A comparison of our results with available models is performed and an empi rical formula for calculating the charge-state fractions of sodium ions is deduced. (C) 2001 Elsevier Science B.V.
