Abstract
Job satisfaction at the reference desk is an important consideration. It no t only affects quality of lih and the overall level of life satisfaction ex perienced by the reference staff; it also affects reference work. Satisfied employees maintain attitudes and engage in activities conducive to referen ce service effectiveness. Life satisfaction and job satisfaction are relate d in a reciprocal manner, with life satisfaction having the stronger effect . The present study found a moderate positive relationship between life sat isfaction and job satisfaction. A moderate negative relationship was found between life satisfaction and the desire to find a comparable job in anothe r library Practical implications for library directors, educators in the he ld of library and information science, and librarians are discussed.
