The system gold-thiourea was studied at pH in the range from 1.5 to 11 in o
rder to enable recovery of the gold(I) complex by flotation with the use of
cationic and anionic surfactants and alcohol additives. The sorption of [A
u(CS(NH2)(2))(2)](+) by powdered activated carbon was studied. Powdered act
ivated carbon saturated with gold(I) was recovered and separated from solut
ion by foam flotation with sodium oleate. The ion flotation of silver(I) wi
th dispersed air from thiosulfate-containing solutions was studied. As surf
actant served a solution of dodecylamine in 0.5% aqueous ethanol or water.
