A mathematical model is constructed describing with account of inertia forc
es the impregnation of blind and quasi-blind capillaries in the case of a v
arying fluid pressure. The possibility is considered of resonance fluid osc
illation in coarse capillaries. Formulas are derived for calculating the re
sonance frequency, phase shift between the pressure and fluid front displac
ement, and critical frequency corresponding to the predominance of friction
forces over the elastic force associated with entrapped gas.
