Abstract
In the course of studies of bis(bipyridine) complexes cis-[Ru(bpy)(2)XY](q), a new compound, cis-[Ru(2,2'-bpy)(2)(4,4'-bipy)(NH3)](BF4)(2), was prepa red, and its electronic absorption spectrum was studied. The energies and i ntensities of the spectral transitions in the complex [Ru(bpy)(2)(bipy)(NH3 )](2+) were calculated by the previously developed quantum-chemical procedu re; the electronic structure of the ground and excited states was described .
