Octaethyl-, octaethyl-5-phenyl-, octaethyl-5,15-diphenyl-, octaethyl-5,10,1
5,20-tetraphenyl-, and dodecaphenylporphyrins were synthesized, and the kin
etics of formation and dissociation of their copper(II) complexes in CH3CO2
H and CH3CO2H .H2SO4 were studied. The fact that the complex-forming abilit
y of the substrates increases in the above order is explained in terms of i
ncreasing deformation of the aromatic tetrapyrrole nucleous in the same ord
er.
