Nn. Basargin et al., Correlations in the series of substituted polymeric sorbents and their polychelates with iron(III) and manganese(II), RUSS J IN C, 45(12), 2000, pp. 1927-1931
The acidity and complexing properties of substituted polystyrene-azo-phenol
s, newly synthesized chelating polymeric sorbents (CPSs), are examined. Cor
relation relations between the pK of the phenolic group of the sorbent and
the pH(50) Of sorption are found for iron(III) and manganese(II) in order t
o study the effect of the structural details and acidity of the functional
group (FG) of the sorbent on the parameters of iron(III) and manganese(II)
chemisorption. These relations allow the physicochemical parameters of sorb
ents and chemisorption to be predicted and chelating sorbents to be applied
to separate and concentrate trace iron and manganese from fluids, natural
water, and sewage.
