A short and efficient synthesis of(S)-1-Boc-2,5-dihydro-1H-pyrrole-2-carbox
ylic acid is described. Starting from N-Boc-diallylamine, the synthesis inv
olves ring-closing metathesis (RCM), directed alkoxycarbonylation (using st
rong lithium bases and alkyl carbonates) and enzymatic kinetic resolution o
f the racemate.
