Aj. Contreras-balderas et al., Avian dynamics of a Chihuahuan Desert creosotebush (Larrea tridentata) community in Nuevo Leon, Mexico, TEX J SCI, 52(4), 2000, pp. 285-292
This study examined the avifauna of a Chihuahuan Desert creosotebush commun
ity in the state of Nuevo Leon in northeastern Mexico from May 1995 to Apri
l 1996. Eased upon foraging strategies, the 48 species recorded were groupe
d into seven functional groups (or guilds) which were further divided into
12 subgroups. The diversity of foraging strategies was found to be high in
this area of Nuevo Leon and is compared with other localities in the Chihua
huan Desert. Due to its richness and number of functional subgroups, this a
rea represents an important site in the avian diversity of the Chihuahuan D
esert.
