Eight cucurbitane-type triterpene glycosides called goyaglycosides-a, -b, -
c, -d, -e, -f, -g, and -h and three oleanane-type triterpene saponins terme
d goyasaponins I, II, and III were isolated from the fresh fruit of Japanes
e Momordica charantia L. (Cucurbitaceae) together with five known cucurbita
ne-type triterpene glycosides momordicosides A, C, F-1, I, and K. The struc
tures of goyaglycosides and goyasaponins were elucidated on the basis of ch
emical and physicochemical evidence.
