Abstract
A distinctive but rare fly, Sinonemestrius akirai sp. nov. (family Xyophagi dae), is described from the upper Hauterivian of southern England. This ext ends the range of the genus Sinonemestrius outside of China for the first t ime, and supports a Cretaceous date for the Laiyang Formation. (C) 2000 Aca demic Press.
