Role of growth factors in the regulation of hemopoiesis.

The paper analyzes the data available in the literature on the contribution of cytokines to the regulation of hemopoiesis. The structure of cytokine r eceptors and the mechanisms of their activation and signal transmission are fully considered. The concept that attributes the synergism and pleiotropi c effect of cytokines on hemopoiesis to the properties of blood cells thems elves (to the expression of cytokine receptors, tb the specific features of formation and conduction of cytokine signals, and to the genetic capacitie s of the cell) is presented.
