Hypertension in patients with type 2 diabetes

Coexisting diabetes and hypertension can set off a vicious cycle of increas ing renal damage and rising blood pressure. Early treatment-before blood pr essure reaches levels traditionally considered hypertensive-can preserve re nal function. Late treatment typically requires multiple drugs and may not effectively control blood pressure and arrest progression of renal disease.
