We present a theoretical investigation of a novel type of distributed-feedb
ack high-power diode laser with a "curved-groove" diffraction grating (c-DF
B), which is predicted to give enhanced spectral and spatial output charact
eristics. Analyzed spectral properties of the proposed device are found to
be identical to the conventional DFB laser of the same length and coupling.
It has been also shown that the lateral optical modes of the proposed c-DF
B laser are the cylindrical symmetry, which implies that the power generate
d by such a device can be brought to a common focus.
