Electrodeposition of Zn-Co-Ti ternary alloys on steel substrates has been c
arried out at the different concentrations of electrolyte, temperature and
current density. The effects of these parameters on the cathodic polarizati
on, cathode current efficiency and composition of the deposits have been in
vestigated. In general blackish grey and dull thin films were obtained. The
cathode current efficiency increases with increasing pH value and temperat
ure at a given current density. The throwing number of the electrolytic bat
h was calculated from the value of the Tafel slope and the resistivity. The
surface morphology and the corrosion behaviour of the deposits have also b
een evaluated.
