An iron(III) complex of a novel tripodal tris-hydroxamate, tris [2-{(N-acet
yl-N-hydroxy)glycylamino}ethyl]amine (TAGE), was synthesized as a sideropho
re model. Its X-ray structure revealed that intra- and interstrand hydrogen
bonding networks cause an increase in the iron redox potential.
