Comparison of in vitro activities of voriconazole and five established antifungal agents against different species of dermatophytes using a broth macrodilution method
S. Perea et al., Comparison of in vitro activities of voriconazole and five established antifungal agents against different species of dermatophytes using a broth macrodilution method, J CLIN MICR, 39(1), 2001, pp. 385-388
The in vitro activities of voriconazole against 19 different species of der
matophytes were compared with those of terbinafine, itraconazole, ketoconaz
ole, griseofulvin, and fluconazole. MICs were determined according to a Nat
ional Committee for Clinical Laboratory Standards broth macrodilution metho
d. Voriconazole appeared more active than ketoconazole, griseofulvin, and f
luconazole and less active than itraconazole and terbinafine. Based on thes
e results, voriconazole merits further investigation as a potentially usefu
l agent for the treatment of dermatophytosis.
