Abstract
The essential oil obtained by hydrodistillation from the rhizome of Curcuma amada (Zingiberaceae) was analyzed by GC/MS. Twenty-eight constituents wer e identified, of which ar-curcumene (28.1%), beta -curcumene (11.2%), camph or (11.2%), curzerenone (7.1%) and 1,8-cineole (6.0%) were found as the maj or compounds. Out of 28 constituents, 11 are being reported for the first t ime.
