Recurrent aortic insufficiency presents in as many as 20% of patients late after repair of acute type A aortic dissection, This underscores the need f or life-long follow up and appropriate management of patients after such su rgery. The prevalence of, and risk factors for, recurrent aortic regurgitat ion, and the indications for and results of medical and surgical treatment are discussed.
