Abstract
A method was developed to provide ecologists with an objective and efficien t means for point sampling horizontal cover, This method produced estimates significantly (p < 0.05) more precise than cover Dole and checkerboard met hods, reducing variability among observers. The new method was significantl y (p < 0.05) faster, than the other techniques, Factors affecting variabili ty of measurements were reviewed.
