Aa. Zateyshchikova et al., Troponin I and C-reactive protein in assessment of 6 week prognosis of patients with unstable angina, KARDIOLOGIY, 40(12), 2000, pp. 38-43
Troponin I and C-reactive protein (CRP) were determined in 137 patients wit
h unstable angina (71 men and 66 women mean age 67,1+/-0,85 years). There w
ere 7 myocardial infarctions, 5 deaths and 7 cases of recurrent destabiliza
tion during 6 weeks of follow-up. Levels of troponin I and CRP were elevate
d in 49 (35,8%) and 39 (28,5%) patients, respectively. Patients with corona
ry end points compared with those without had higher troponin (1,70+/-0,582
and 1,09+/-0,203 ng/ml, respectively) and similar CRP levels. Independent
predictors of myocardial infarction and coronary death were troponin I elev
ation, T-wave changes on initial ECC, increased blood glucose, and recent (
less than or equal to2 months) onset of ischemic heart disease. Elevated CR
P level was not related to unfavorable prognosis.
