Abstract
The reactions of ferrocenylketimines [(eta(5)-C5H4CMe=NAr)Fe(eta(5)-C5 H5)] (Ar=a variety of substituted phenyls) with cis-Pt(DMSO)(2)Cl-2 in refluxing toluene have led to the formation of both the five-membered cycloplatinated derivatives a-Pt{(eta(5)-C5H4CMe=NAr)Fe(eta(5)-C5H5)} (DMSO)Cl] in the presence of sodium acetate and the coordinated compou nds -PtCl2(DMSO){(eta(5)-C5H4CMe=NAr)Fe(eta(5)-C5H5)}] in the absence of sodium acetate. The compounds have been characterized by elemental analysis, IR, H-1 NMR and two-dimensional NOESY spectra. The X-ray cry stal structures of a-Pt{(eta(5)-C5H3CMe=NPh)Fe(eta(5)-C5H5)}(DMSO)Cl] and -PtCl2(DMSO){(eta(5)-C5H4CMe=NPh)Fe(eta(5)-C5H5)}] have been deter mined. (C) 1997 Elsevier Science S.A
