It is shown that the closure of the model equation of Anderson and Witting
by a moment method leads to transport coefficients of a relativistic gas wh
ich differ from those obtained by the usual Chapman and Enskog method. The
transport coefficients obtained in the two closures coincide in the non-rel
ativistic limiting case but depart from each other in the relativistic and
