Abstract

Light-atom scattering off a hard wall is studied with consideration of elec tron transitions initiated by the collision. It is shown that this problem can be solved analytically in the framework of Masel, Merrill, and Miller's approach [Phys. Rev B 12, 5545 (1975)]. Application to the scattering of e xcited hydrogen atoms from insulator surfaces is considered.
