Environmental monitoring of selected metals was performed using biota and s
oil samples. Sampling was carried out during the period March-May and Octob
er-November. For the isolation of these analytes, conventional extraction a
nd microwave mineralization techniques were applied. Atomic Absorption Spec
troscopy (AAS) equipped with Graphite Furnace (GF) was used to determine he
avy metals and macroelements. The obtained data were compared with the resp
ective values recommended by the Polish Standards. Popular bioindicators we
re used to estimate the level of pollution by heavy metals of Torun, Poland
. Application of the established sampling procedures for environmental samp
les and determination methods for xenobiotics can be successfully applied f
or the purpose of routine analyses in biomonitoring.
