K. Nakajima et al., CHROMATIC DISPERSION DISTRIBUTION MEASUREMENT ALONG A SINGLE-MODE OPTICAL-FIBER, Journal of lightwave technology, 15(7), 1997, pp. 1095-1101
A nondestructive measurement technique, which uses a four-wavelength b
idirectional optical time domain reflectometer (OTDR) to measure the c
hromatic dispersion distribution along a single-mode fiber, is compare
d with the destructive interferometric technique, The experimental res
ults obtained by this technique are in good agreement with those obtai
ned by the interferometric technique, In addition, a measurement proce
dure is proposed for a transmission line composed of different types o
f single-mode fiber, These results show that this technique is extreme
ly useful for the design of wavelength division multiplexer (WDM) and
finite difference multiplexer (FDM) optical communication systems.
