Abstract
\To make the thermoluminescence (TL) dating method applicable for ancient i ron manufacturing furnace, the authors reproduced an ancient style of iron manufacturing. The determination of age is an indispensable condition for t he investigation into the beginning of iron manufacturing in Japan. We made the relation between the TL characteristics of quartz and the internal tem perature of furnace wall. At the same time, we made the effect of second an nealing temperature clear. As a result, we discovered the suitable layers a nd second annealing condition for TL dating, and we show the method of dist inguishing the layers with their color easily.
