Codes of ethics from 19 countries, representing a total of 24 countrie
s, were compared to the United States using the American Psychological
Association's (APA) Ethical Principles of Psychologists and Code of C
onduct. Canada's code of ethics was most similar to the US/APA code an
d China's the most dissimilar. Ten individual standards may be approac
hing universal agreement, while eight others were unique to the APA et
hical code. The relationship of ethical codes to cultural values, and
future research suggestions, are discussed.
