Abstract
Tribolodon nakamurai, a new species of Cyprinidae is described from the mid dle part of Honshu Island, Japan. This species is distinguished from its co ngeners by the following combination of characters: mouth terminal, large; lower jaw large, its tip anterior to the tip of upper jaw lower jaw large a nd long, lower jaw length 10.4-12.2% of SL; head large, its length 26.1-28. 9% of SL; caudal peduncle deep, its depth 8.9-10.3% of SL; snout long: its length 8.7-9.8% SL; interorbital distance wide, its width 7.1-8.3% SL; tota l lateral line scales, 84-96; predorsal scares, 46-54; scales between dorsa l fin origin and lateral line, 19.5-22.5; circumpeduncular scares, 34-40 an d total gill rakers, 9-12.
