Abstract
6,9-Dihydroxy-2-methyl-2-(4-methyl-3-pentenyl)-2H-benzo [g]chromene-5, 10-d ione in aprotic medium undergoes acid-catalyzed isomerization to give a mix ture of (+/-)-4a,12b-cis- and (+/-)-4a,12b-trans-8,11-dihydroxy-2,5,5-trime thyl-4,4a,5, 12b-tetrahydro-3H-dibenzo[c,g]chromene-7, 12-diones, the first of which is a structural isomer of (+/-)-naphtoherniarin A.
