Twelve new complex radical ion salts formed by N-alkoxypyridinium cations a
nd 7,7,8,8-tetra-cyanoquinodimethane radical anion were isolated and examin
ed by IR, UV, ESR, and H-1 and C-13 NMR spectroscopy. Specific resistance o
f some crystalline salts was measured. The electric conductivity of these s
alts is influenced by the hydrocarbon radical on the oxygen atom in N-alkox
ypyridinium cation more strongly than by the substituent in position 4 of t
he pyridine ring.
