Abstract
Novel spirooxazines of the naphthalene and phenanthrene series have be en synthesized and studied in PMMA. All of them were found to be photo chromic, with high fatigue resistance depending strongly on the struct ure of the oxazine moiety and substituents in the fragments of the spi rocyclic molecule. The efficiency of the photocoloration depends mainl y on the steric factors.
