The Anderson localization of electrons in disordered tunnel-coupled double
quantum wires (DQW) in a perpendicular magnetic field is studied. The local
ization length is calculated for the disorder with short-range spatial corr
elations, either within each wire or between the two wires of the DQW. It i
s shown that the interwire correlations produce a remarkably strong effect
on the localization length at energies inside the partial energy gap of the
DQW. The implications of obtained results for the transport properties of
DQWs with disorder due to boundary roughness are discussed. (C) 2001 Elsevi
