A criterion for a Samulson map to be injective and a criterion for suc
h a map to be a global diffeomorphism are established. The criteria ar
e used to clarify some examples of nonpolynomial Samuelson maps with n
onzero constant Jacobian determinant that arise from ploynomial and ot
her differentiable mappings of real n-space with nowhere vanishing Jac
obian determinant.
