A comparison of the activity of polymer immobilised TEMPO (PIPO) with MCM-41 and silica supported TEMPO as heterogeneous catalysts for the oxidation of alcohols
A. Dijksman et al., A comparison of the activity of polymer immobilised TEMPO (PIPO) with MCM-41 and silica supported TEMPO as heterogeneous catalysts for the oxidation of alcohols, SYNLETT, (1), 2001, pp. 102-104
PIPO, a readily prepared polymer immobilised TEMPO, is an efficient recycla
ble heterogeneous catalyst for the chlorinated hydrocarbon solvent- and bro
mide-free bleach oxidation of a variety of alcohols. Under these environmen
tally friendly conditions, PIPO is superior to homogeneous TEMPO and the pr
eviously described MCM-41 and silica supported TEMPO catalysts. In addition
, in combination with CuCl, PIPO is also able to catalyse the aerobic oxida
tion of benzyl alcohol.
