Abstract
Dispersity of the initial niobium pentoxide powder used in the synthesis of niobate ceramics significantly affects the mechanical properties of these ferroelectric materials. The best mechanical properties were observed in th e samples of niobate ceramics characterized by a minimum deformation of the unit cells, corresponding to certain intervals of the specific surface of the initial niobium pentoxide powder. These results must be taken into acco unt in the research, synthesis, and development of niobate ferroelectric ce ramics for various applications. (C) 2000 MAIK "Nauka/Interperiodica".
