Abstract
An unexpected reactivity of 2-chloromethyl-3-methyl- 1,4-naphthoquinone 1 w ith primary nitroalkanes in classical S(RN)1 reaction conditions gives two series of new quinones: dialkyl anthraquinones and C-alkylated naphthoquino nes. (C) 2001 Elsevier Science Ltd. All rights reserved.
