In Dirk Web's office was a battered file cabinet, filled with other people' s problems. Somewhere in the crumpled mess of papers on top of it, the old invoices, the threatening letters, the remnants of the broken dreams of str angers, sat a pot of dirt that once was a plant fi om wa client he couldn't remember. A couple of times he had thought about being a salesman, maybe selling shoe s or something, but the truth was he just didn't like most people. So he wound up hale,, dividing his time between the wimps nad the losers wh o couldn't handle their own problems and the slimebags and thugs who tool; advantage of them to line their own pockets.
