Triterpenes from Mimusops elengi

Two new triterpenes, 3 beta ,19 alpha ,23-trihydroxy-urs-12-ene (1) and 3 b eta-(p-hydroxy-cis-cinnamoyloxy)urs-12-en-28-oic acid (2) have been isolate d from the methanolic extract of Mimusops elengi along with 3 beta-(p-hydro xy-trans-cinnamoyloxy) urs-12-en-28-oic acid (3), which has been obtained f or the first time from this species, and ursolic acid (4), respectively. Th eir structures were established through chemical and spectral studies. Comp ounds (3) and (4) were found to exhibit potent inhibitory activity against alpha -glucosielase enzyme.
