We report a case of human pulmonary dirofilariasis in a 31-year-old man res
iding in the Aigion (Pelopennesus) Greece. The patient was hospitalized for
fryer of unknown cause. The chest x-ray showed a coin lesion in the left l
ung. Lung cancer was suspected and lobectomy was performed. Pathology repor
ted presence of a nematode in an infarcted nodule. Its morphology enabled t
he diagnosis of an immature female Dirofaria repens. Twenty-two cases of hu
man subcutaneous or subconjunctival human dirofilariasis have been reported
. The present case is the first located in the lung.
