Magnetic properties of the lanthanide phosphates

The heavier lanthanide phosphates, together with those of scandium and yttr ium, have been investigated by an unusually wide range of experiments. Most of them enter magnetically ordered phases at a few degrees absolute, but t here are also crystallographic transformations arising from cooperative Jah n-Teller interactions. This paper gives a survey of the experimental inform ation.
