Abstract
The study relates to the power consumption, mixing time and mixing efficien cy defined as the product of the mixing time and the power consumption in a non standard vessel equipped with various axial and mixed dual-impeller co nfigurations. The effects of the rotational speed, gas flow rate, impeller type and diameter are investigated. The mixing mechanisms are found strongl y dependent on flow patterns, impeller type and diameter. Dimensionless cor relations are proposed to predict power consumption and the mixing time bey ond complete dispersion regime. (C) 2001 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights r eserved.
