In this paper, a new numerical method for the exact solution of nonlinear e
igenvalue problems is developed. This method associates homotopy and asympt
otic numerical techniques and it is applied to determine the natural freque
ncies and the loss factors of viscoelastically damped sandwich structures.
The numerical predictions of the loss factor and the natural frequency are
