Abstract
In this paper, a new numerical method for the exact solution of nonlinear e igenvalue problems is developed. This method associates homotopy and asympt otic numerical techniques and it is applied to determine the natural freque ncies and the loss factors of viscoelastically damped sandwich structures. The numerical predictions of the loss factor and the natural frequency are compared to analytical and experimental results. (C) 2001 Elsevier Science Ltd. All rights reserved.
