Jj. Alvaro et D. Vizcaino, A new trilobite assemblage from the Middle Cambrian of the Pardailhan Nappe (Montagne Noire, France), ECLOG GEOL, 93(3), 2000, pp. 277-289
A new trilobite assemblage, belonging to the Middle Cambrian, has been foun
d in the Pardailhan nappe (southern Montagne Noire. France). For the first
time the lowermost part of the middle Middle Cambrian is recognized in the
Montagne Noire. Trilobite-bearing shales from the lowermost part of the Cou
louma Formation holostratotype have yielded Condylopyge sp.. Dawsonia bohem
ica, Corynexochus delagei, Asturiaspis inopinatus. Skreiaspis miqueli nov.
sp., Badulesia tenera, Badulesia juliverti and Conocoryphe (Conocoryphe) sp
. This assemblage allows us to propose a correlation of these levels with t
he late Leonian/early Caesaraugustian interval of the Iberian Peninsula and
Sardinia, and the Zones of Kymataspis arenosa and Badulesia tenera of the
Moroccan Anti-Atlas. Finally, the first occurrence of D. bohemica outside B
ohemia permits a correlation of the D. bohemica Horizon (Zone of Paradoxide
s pusillus) within the B. tenera Zone (first biozone of the Caesaraugustian
on the Iberian Peninsula).
