The solubility of Cr in TiAl, at 1000 and 80O degrees C, in the Ti-Al-
Cr ternary system is examined. Based on the results, partial isotherma
l sections, showing the relationship of TiAl with the neighboring phas
es have been constructed. The solubility of TiAl increases into the te
rnary with increasing Al content at 1000 degrees C, to a maximum of ab
out 8 at.% Cr. At 800 degrees C, the maximum solubility of TiAl is abo
ut 4.5 at.% Cr. The separation of the beta/B2 phase field into the bet
a(Cr) and B2 phase regions is examined. The phase separation temperatu
re was found to be about 1100 degrees C. Finally, the data from the cu
rrent study is combined with information from the literature to constr
uct isothermal sections of the Ti-Al-Cr system at 1000 and 800 degrees
