This paper addresses the problem of locating actuators and sensors for line
ar continuous-time systems in several contexts. Open-loop as well as closed
-loop problems are discussed, Both state and output feedback are considered
. In most cases, global optimal solutions are attained by solving mired Boo
lean semidefinite or linear programs. An algorithm which is able to find th
ese global optima is provided. A numerical example illustrates the results.
