M. Parthiban et V. Thiagarajan, Application of polymerase chain reaction for early detection of infectiousbursal disease virus infection, I J ANIM SC, 70(12), 2000, pp. 1201-1203
The bursae suspensions at different hours past - infection were subjected t
c AG PT, dot-E LISA and RT-PCR to compare their sensitivity in detecting th
e presence of IBD virus in the early stage of infection. Until 36 hr post -
infection, the antigen could not be detected by AGPT and dot-ELISA, wherea
s it was possible to detect viral RNA by RT-PCR at 24 hr post - infection.
Hence, RT-PCR was highly sensitive in detecting the virus during early stag
e of IBDV infection.
